The buildings we work on in the Bronx
Bronx building stock splits roughly three ways and each fails differently. Prewar brick walkups and Art Deco buildings along the Concourse have soft brick, lime mortar and tall parapets. Attached and semi attached two families through Morris Park, Pelham Bay and Throgs Neck have shared party walls and shared drainage problems. Postwar co ops and the Co op City towers bring curtain wall and concrete issues that have nothing in common with either.
Permits and filing in the Bronx
Most exterior repair work in the Bronx needs DOB filing once it goes beyond ordinary repairs, and anything on a landmarked block near Riverdale or Longwood adds a Landmarks review on top.
