A driveway takes more abuse than any other surface on a residential property. Vehicle weight, freeze and thaw, road salt and standing water all work against it. Most failures come from a base that was never properly compacted rather than from the surface material.

We install and repair concrete, asphalt and interlocking paver driveways, and we grade for drainage so water leaves the property instead of pooling against the foundation.

When to call us

Signs you need driveways

If you recognise any of these, it is worth having someone look before it gets more expensive.

  • Cracks spreading year on year
  • Water pooling in the middle
  • Edges crumbling or breaking away
  • Surface sinking near the garage or apron

What causes it

Why this happens

A driveway carries several tons repeatedly over the same tracks, so the base matters more than the surface. Excavation to depth, stone compacted in layers, and a slope that moves water away from the building are what decide whether it lasts. Resurfacing over a failed base buys you two seasons at most, and you pay for the surface twice.

Budget guidance

What driveways costs in NYC

Concrete driveways typically run 14 to 22 dollars per square foot. Asphalt sits lower at roughly 8 to 14. Interlocking pavers run highest at around 20 to 35 depending on the paver. Removing an existing driveway adds cost, and a new curb cut requires DOT filing and is priced separately.

These are indicative ranges to help you budget, not a quote. Every building is different and we price after seeing the job.

Questions

Driveways questions

Concrete, asphalt or pavers?

Concrete lasts longest and needs least maintenance. Asphalt costs less up front and handles freeze and thaw well but needs resealing. Pavers look best and individual units can be lifted and reset, but the install cost is higher.

Do I need a permit for a driveway?

For work inside your property line, usually not. For a new curb cut or any work in the public right of way, yes, and we handle that filing.

Why does my driveway pool water?

Almost always a grading problem. A driveway needs a slope of roughly a quarter inch per foot away from the building. We regrade rather than just resurfacing over the same fault.
